Unit # US Army (Infantry)

The son of Mrs. Winnie McGhie of 4530 Commonwealth, Detroit, Michigan. The grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Miller of Inshes Ave., Chatham. Douglas was born in Chatham and lived with his grandparents, attended St. Joseph Separate School and Chatham Vocational School. For a time he drove a taxi in Chatham. He was working with his grandfather as a carpenter prior to his moving to Detroit to enlist.  

His grandparents received word that Douglas had been seriously wounded 18 July while serving in Italy. He had enlisted in the US Army in 1942 and went overseas in December of 1943. He had seen action at Cassino, Anzio and Rome. 

The CDN 6/09/44(P) reported that Pte. D. W. Miller had been seriously wounded while serving in Italy.
