The son of Mrs. Bessie Mitchelson (mother) of P.O.Box, 58, Forest, ON. A banker. Served with the 24th Kent Regt. Dr. Hubbard found him fit and he was with D-Coy. for training. Austin went to D-Coy on 30/04/1916 where he went on staff.

Back at Queen’s Par he had impetigo, January 19 to February 5/02/17. Transferred 33rd Batt. 21/02/16. He was TOS with the 149th , TOS 2/03/16 and was AWL three days. He transferred to the 33rd Batt. who were preparing to go overseas 

Austin was sent to the Military Hospital at London, ON. 6/12/17 for Syphilis vineints Angina. He reported suffering from ear trouble in both ears. A result of this treatment he was classified as, “Unfit for Active Service 

A medical Board concluded: Inflamation of the middle ear. The Board concurred fully in the opinion of the Medical “present prior to enlistment. MEDICALLY UNFIT
