Born in Wilkesport, ON. The son of William and Eliza (nee Lumley) of Wilkesport.

He trained in Canada in Sarnia, London, and Camp Petawawa, ON. His unit embarked from New Haven, England for Dieppe, France.

Killed in action: at Dieppe. DOAS 19/08/42

His name is on a monument at New Haven along with 26 others of the Royal Canadian Engineers. He is also on the Brookwood Memorial Panel 23., Col.: 2 in Surrey, England and on the Steinhoff Memorial Cenotaph in Wallaceburg.
