Kent Regt. A471382 / RCAF R201057. Born 24 October, 1917 at Chatham, ON., the son of Margaret Stanton, also his next of kin.

Herbert enlisted 22/11/1940 with the Kent Regt. He re-enlisted with the RCAF 17/11/42. He trained at Toronto, St.Thomas, Claresholm, Alberta (#15 SFTS – Service Flying Training School).

After his training he sailed from Halifax on the S.S. Mauritania 15 Dec.,1943. After arriving at Liverpool, England he boarded train for Bournemouth, Dorset, England, In December he posted to Bircham Newton with RAF #415 Coastal Command, he served there from 1 Jan. to 6 June, 1944 (D-Day 

After D-Day he was posted to 416 Squadron (Bomber Command) in Yorkshire until VE-Day.

He was hen posted 8/05/45 to No. 4 Group – #426 Sqd. (Transport Command) until the end of 1945.

He sailed for Halifax on the Queen Elizabeth and was “Honorably Released” 29/03/46.
