The son of Mr. and Mrs. W. .H. Taylor of 20 Murray St., Chatham, On. Was presented by H.R.H. Prince Arthur of Connaught at London. Lieut-Col, H. D. Smith who received the medal on behalf of MR. and Mrs. Taylor.
The Military Cross was awarded to the late Lieut. Taylor for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty . Through his courage and disregard of machine gun fire he captured a hostile machine gun and immediately brought it into action. On his company command being evacuated he was the only officer left with the troops, and his cheerfulness at all times materially assisted in keeping up the spirits of his men during the heavy bombardment, which followed the consolidation of his position.
