The son of Morley Tickner (then serving in the Veteran’s Guard) and brother of Leonard A. A49630.  

He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Regt. in July of 1940 in London, ON. and arrived overseas in June of 1941. He transferred to the 48th Highlanders for active service in Italy.

The brothers had met several times since proceeding to that theatre of the war.

Garnet was critically wounded while serving with the Canadian forces in Italy on 16 Sept. 1944 CDN 19/10/44  He suffered shrapnel wounds to both legs and lost the sight in one eye during combat the 16th of September, 1944. CDN 2/10/44.
