Born the 12/11/1879 in Raleigh Twsp., Kent county. The youngest of 6 children, to Phillip A. Toll and the former Elizabeth (nee Smiley). William attended the local schools and studied at the Leamington Collegiate Institute. He graduated M. B. in 1905 from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine.

After his interning Dr. toll went to Carbon, Alberta and built a home there. He married Stella Liselle (nee Reed) 30/12/1908, they were married by William’s brother the Rev. Sylvester Leroy Toll. After the wedding they returned to Carbon. A daughter Helen was born at Carbon 21/12/1909.  

Dr. Toll returned to university in London, England in 1912 and he and family returned to Canada 7/12/1912.

He set up a medical practice in Chatham, ON. in January of 1913 located at 268 King Street West. He advertised his medical practice in 1914-15 ‘Vernons City of Chatham Directory.

In 1921 Dr. and Mrs. Toll and Helen resided at 36 Peel St., Simcoe, ON.  

Dr. Toll was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1942. His ‘Draft Card’ he was residing at 130 Seventh St., Monessen, Pennsylvania. He was 5’ 4”tall, 120 lbs, Brown eyes, Gray Hair and a ruddy complexion.

Dr. Toll died at the General Hospital in Monessen Penn. 19/11/1948. He was buried in Toronto, ON. His wife and daughter were also living in Toronto in 1958.
