John enlisted in the Navy 12/02/1943. He served on HMCS Orillia and Algonquin serving in the North Atlantic. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vidler of Erieau, Kent Co., ON.
The CDN 30/03/43 reported spent the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vidler he was accompanied by his friend OS Walter Johnson.
The CDN 30/06/43 Reported that AB. Vidler was back on duty on a Canadian coast. John’s brother George was serving with the army overseas.
He was discharged from the Navy 14/12/45.
Married to Ruth (nee Dunlop) they had four children.
John Richard passed away 6 September, 2001.
