The WN 12/09/40 Charles was one of seven Whitebread ‘Soldier Boys’ who had enlisted with the Kent Regt. in Chatham. 

Pte. Ward, stationed in London, ON was in Chatham visiting. The Wallaceburg News 22/05/41 was reported spending a two weeks furlough with his family in Whitebread, Kent Vo., ON.  The WN 7/11/40 reported that Charles, his wife and two children were in Chatham for a special service for soldiers.
