The son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Webber of 178 Thames St., Chatham, ON. The brother of Alfred also in the RCAF.

Previous Military Experience… Served with the Kent Regiment for a time.

Sgt. Webber enlisted in August of 1942 and had served overseas since September of 1943.

History After Enlistment… Trained at Montreal, Moncton, Quebec City, Mont Joli and Halifax. Posted for overseas duty and served in England. Promoted to the rank of Flying Officer and received the C.V.S.M. and Leaf, the 1945 Star, the Aircrew Star, the France and Germany Star, Defence [sic] Medal and operational Wing.

The CDN 21/08/44(P) reported that Flt. Sgt. Webber had completed 32 flights over enemy territory and was at a rest camp in England. He was the first Canadian serving in a RAF squadron.

The CDN 23/10/44 reported that Norman had been promoted from Flt. Sergt. To pilot Officer. He was commissioned 17 October 1944. He had a brother Alfred who was a wireless technician in the RCAF also serving overseas.

In a letter to his parents he was unsure if he would be sent back to Canada now that he had completed his missions. His crew have been together during the entire operation of 32 flights. Most of their targets were important targets in Germany. Their plane had many rough times going through flak the crew came through unscathed. Most of their targets lately had been in support of the D-Fay operation.   

Norman returned to Canada in November, 1944 after completing 34 operational flights over enemy territory. CDN 12/12/45
