Gunner H.I.F. Wiley joined the C.C.T.C. March 6th, 1916, qualifying as a Lieutenant and in Musketry and Machine Gun. He joined the 63rd. Battery as Gunner, April 29th, 1916, took a Signalling course, and was transferred to the Western University unit- No.10 Hospital. He was promoted to Sergeant in two weeks, embarking for overseas August 18th, on the Str. Olympic. He camped a short time at St. Martin’s Plains, and two weeks later went on duty at Moore Barracks Canadian Hospital. November 1st, 1916, he was sent to Seaford, a month later was promoted to Staff Sergeant, N.C.O. in charge of Ravenscroft Hospital, Seaford. Left here for C.A.M.C. Training School, Westenhanger, in September 1917, and two weeks later was sent to the Canadian Discharge Depot, Buxton, sailing for Canada two weeks later. He arrived at Quebec September 28th, 1917.

Staff Sergeant H.I.F. Wiley received his discharge from military service October 4th, 1917, in consequence of “To resume Medical Studies”. A.G. 3b 2-vv-972, dated 15-8-7.
