Don had been serving with the 8th Army in Italy had been wounded. Don landed in Italy in the latter part of June 1944. 

The CDN 3/01/45 reported that the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson was listed as WIA.  Stationed at Camp Ipperwash, ON. He was reported home on a week-end leave. CDN 22/03/44   

Don was former President of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 324 in Wheatley.
