“The aircraft left RAF Linton in Yorkshire on Saturday morning landing later in the south west England two hour later. At three o’clock on Sunday morning we took off and headed southwest and six hour later we arrived in the Azares. The island looked lovely and cool from the air but was awful dusty on the ground. We got something to eat and took off again at eleven o’clock heading straight for Gander, Newfoundland arriving there at 3:40 ‘Newfie’ time. Monday morning we took off and headed for Scoudoue landing there about two hours later.

“It was a wonderful trip, good weather all the way across. It was the nicest week-end trip I’ve ever taken. What do you think?”
