The son of Ephraim and Katherine (nee Monroe) Zavitz of Lobo Twsp., Wallaceburg, ON. The brother of John Ward, Percy Clement, Florence Jean and Mabel Sarah.

Owen saw combat in France and Belgium. Pte. Zavitz was lucky to have avoided being wounded during the war but ten days after the Armistance 11/11/18 while picking up unexploded shell one exploded braking an arm in two places. Photo available.
