The Wallaceburg News reported that Seaman Spencer was stationed aboard HMCS Alberni c/o FMO, Halifax, NS.  The WN(date unknown) reported that he was home on furlough after his ship HMCS Albernie was sunk in the English Channel during the D-Day invasion of Normandy.
