The son of Mandy of 250 Selkirk St., Chatham. Attestation: 8/02/1916 at Chatham, ON. to 186th Bn.  Attestation: 8/02/1916 at Chatham, ON. to 186th Bn.

Private Alvin Bedford Stewart entrained from Chatham for overseas March 22nd, 1917, with the 186th. Battalion. After training at Bramshott Camp, he proceeded to France, attached to the 18th. Battalion, June 16th 1917. he was wounded August 15th, 1917, near Lens, and admitted to Hospital at Portsmouth, England, suffering from double fracture of the right arm. he was transferred to Parkhurst, later to Epsom, and then to Buxton Hospitals.

The CDP 4/05/18 “Reported returning home.” His wife had received information Pte. Alvin Stewart had crossed from France to England to visit some of Mrs. Stewart’s relatives. After visiting at Bramshott Stewart was expected to sail for Canada.
