The son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Ball of Dresden. Gordon was reported in the WN 26/11/42 in a group photo of Signallers completing training at Windsor HMCS Hunter.

The DT 5/08/43 reported that Gordon and his wife were visiting his parents and Mr and Mrs. William Hughson of Dresden while Gordon was on leave from Halifax. The DT 26/08/43 reported that Writer Ball then stationed in Halifax, NS. He and his wife Bessie Wilma (nee Hughson) were visiting his relative in Dresden for a month on their way back to the East Coast.
