Caron, Lawrence Jean

 

Born 10/08/1924 in Pain Court, Dover Twsp., County of Kent, ON.

Lawrence enlisted in the RCR. He did his basic training at BTC No. 12 in Chatham, ON. for thirty days. After completing his training at Chatham he was sent to Camp Ipperwash on Lake Huron. After completing his training there he and his companions boarded ships for England and another three weeks of training. After completing that course he boarded another ship and eleven days later he arrived in Italy 

From Italy the RCR moved on to France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Gernany and back to Italy. Lawrence was wounded in the arm and head in Italy and recovered to see the fall of Germany and preparation to go to the Pacific Theatre. They were sent to the United Staes for training but the war with Japan over.

Lawrence married Grace Morocco on 12 September,1946. After that they moved to Detroit, Michigan in April of 1949. He worked at the Chevrolet Gear and Axle plant for 37 years retiring in March of 1987. They had a son Paul and two daughters Lynn and Lori. He and Grace live in Plymouth, MI. married for 68 years.
