John was reported to have returned from overseas aboard the troop ship Ile de France, expected in Halifax on the second week of April, 1945 CDN4/08/45. He arrived in Chatham from overseas duty on August 8, 1945 CDN 8/08/45.
He returned to Dresden after discharge to take up duties with his father in the insurance business. He was the first post-war president of Dresden Legion Branch 113.
