W James Hind

 

The son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hind of 103 Adelaide St., Chatham. Married to the former Helen (nee Smith) and the father of a son Gary James they were expected to be on a month to visit including a stay with Helen’s family Dr. and Mrs. Luke Smith of Victoria Ave.   

James enlisted in the RCAF in October, 1940. He trained at Brandon, Regina, Vancouver at Dauphin, MB. where he received his “Wings” and commission.

The CDN 9/01/43 reported that Flying Officer Hind had been promoted to Flight Lieutenant. He was the squadron commander of the Flying School at Prince Albert when he was transferred a few months ago. 

The CDN 4/12/43 reported that Flt. Lieut and wife with their son Gary stationed at Prince Albert SK. had arrived in Chatham. Flt.-Lieut. Hind would be taking a two week course at Arnprior after whicj he would return to Chatham to spend Christmas with the family. 

The CDN 15/06/43 Flight-Lieut. Hind and Mrs. James Hind and their small son Gary had arrived in Chatham from Prince Albert to visit Dr. and Mrs. Luke Smith at their Victoria Ave. home, along with Mr. and Mrs. Hind of Adelaide St., Chatham.

The CDN 7/07/44 reported that Flt. Lieut. Hind, his wife and son Gary arrived from Prince Albert Sask. to visit their parents. 

Flt. Lieut left Trenton to take a six week administration course after which he would spend a short leave after returning to No.6 F.T.F.S  in the latter part of August  he was notified of his new appointment. before proceeding back to Prince Albert with his family.  

The CDN 28/02/45 reported that James, wife and son Gary arrived in Chatham from Yorktown, Sk. to visit with his family and Dr. and Mrs. Luke Smith. The next week Sqdn. Leader would leave for a three month course at the War Staff College at Armour Heights in Toronto. His wife and son would be staying in Chatham.
