Private Rutherford was transferred from the 91st to the 186th battalion; received promotion to Corporal; took the BF & PT training at Toronto, and left for overseas Mar. 26, 1917, arriving in England Apr. 7.
He proceeded to France June 7 to the 18th battalion with which unit he served until Aug. 17, at Hill 70, when he was killed in action.
